Library

How long does it take to get a library card?

Our librarian will be able to supply you with a new library card the same day you apply.

Are electronic books available?

YES, you can!

Does the Library have "story time" for younger children?

We do offer "story time" for younger children!  Give us a call if the current schedule is not posted.

City Government

When is garbage collected?

Garbage is collected weekly - every Wednesday morning.

On Holidays that fall on a Wednesday - pickup is on Tuesday mornings.

 

Ordinances

What is the city ordinance for burning?

Open burning is restricted. Open burning is permitted in the following circumstances:

1. Disaster rubbish

2. Trees and tree trimmings

3. Landscape waste

4. Recreational fires - open fires for cooking, heating, recreatioin and ceremonies

Burning household waste or trash is prohibited.

What is allowed to be put in the city burn pile?

Yard waste means any debris such as grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, brush and trees. Anything that grows in your yard can be burned. 

NO BUILDNG MATERIALS allowed to be put on the burn pile.

What can I dispose of in the metal bin?

Any and all items disposed of in the metal bin need to be METAL ONLY!

Examples:

1. Appliances 

2. Box spring

3. Exercise equipment

4. Metal shelving 

5. Automotive parts

Sanitation & Recycling

When are the garbage collection days for my street?

Garbage collection is every Wednesday.

Remember, observed holidays will alter the normal routine.

Water Utilities

My bill is past due can I get an extension?

Please contact our office to discuss your bill with the City Clerk.

Re-connect fees: 1st = $25; 2nd+ $100

 

COLLINS CITY COUNCIL ~ WATER SHUT-OFF POLICY

¨ 24th day of month - Meter Reading

¨ 24th day to end of month - Bills Creation

¨ Last day of month - Bills Mailed Out  

¨ 1st - 10th of month - Utility bills due

¨ 11th day - Unpaid bills are delinquent

¨ 15th day - Apply penalties to unpaid bills; Send out delinquent/shut-off notices

¨ 21st day - Shut-off unpaid accounts that haven’t set up a payment schedule*

¨ 24th day - Meter Reading

*No special payment arrangement for accounts with $250 bill in the current month.

What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, call our office and report low pressure for your area.

Why do I have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?

We may have received it after the due date or we may not have received it at all. Call our office and we will help you solve the problem.

Why is my water discolored?

A repair could have been completed recently allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look.
