I am interested in applying for a job with the City of Collins, what do I do?
You will need to fill out an application if available. Please ensure you meet the qualifications for the position you wish to be considered for. If you would like to include a resume, simply attach it to the completed application. You may mail or drop off the application at City Hall. Interviews will be scheduled accordingly.
Does the City of Collins hire part time employees?
Yes, we do hire part time employees. Availability of these positions will be posted here when available.
How long does it take to get a library card?
Our librarian will be able to supply you with a new library card the same day you apply.
Are electronic books available?
YES, you can!

Does the Library have "story time" for younger children?
We do offer "story time" for younger children! Give us a call if the current schedule is not posted.
What hours is City Hall open?
City Hall is open from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM daily.
Where can trash bags be purchased?
Your clear City of Collins trash bags can be purchased at either City Hall or the Library.
Small bags are $0.50 each
Large bags are $1.00 each
When is garbage collected?
Garbage is collected weekly - every Wednesday morning.
On Holidays that fall on a Wednesday - pickup is on Tuesday mornings.
What is the city ordinance for burning?
Open burning is restricted. Open burning is permitted in the following circumstances:
1. Disaster rubbish
2. Trees and tree trimmings
3. Landscape waste
4. Recreational fires - open fires for cooking, heating, recreatioin and ceremonies
Burning household waste or trash is prohibited.
When are fireworks allowed?
July 3rd through the 5th 8:00 A.M. until 11:00 P.M.
December 31 from 8:00 A.M. until 11:00 P.M.
What is allowed to be put in the city burn pile?
Yard waste means any debris such as grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, brush and trees. Anything that grows in your yard can be burned.
NO BUILDNG MATERIALS allowed to be put on the burn pile.
What can I recycle in the city bin?
Recyclables are the following:
1. Tin, aluminum and bi-metal cans
2. Clear glass bottles and jars
3. Plastics with any number within a triangle symbol
4. Newsprint, ad slicks, magazines
5. Office paper
6. Corrugated cardboard
7. Paperboard - cereal boxes, egg cartons (of cardboard substance)
BREAK DOWN your boxes
DO NOT leave that to be done by someone else
What can I dispose of in the metal bin?
Any and all items disposed of in the metal bin need to be METAL ONLY!

When are the garbage collection days for my street?
Garbage collection is every Wednesday.
Remember, observed holidays will alter the normal routine.
How could I have used this much water?
You may not have - the numbers on your meter may have been transposed or hard to read. You could possibly have a leaky toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. Just call the office and we'll work with you to solve the problem.
My bill is past due can I get an extension?
Please contact our office to discuss your bill with the City Clerk.

COLLINS CITY COUNCIL ~ WATER SHUT-OFF POLICY
¨ 24th day of month - Meter Reading
¨ 24th day to end of month - Bills Creation
¨ Last day of month - Bills Mailed Out
¨ 1st - 10th of month - Utility bills due
¨ 11th day - Unpaid bills are delinquent
¨ 15th day - Apply penalties to unpaid bills; Send out delinquent/shut-off notices
¨ 21st day - Shut-off unpaid accounts that haven’t set up a payment schedule*
¨ 24th day - Meter Reading
*No special payment arrangement for accounts with $250 bill in the current month.
What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?
Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, call our office and report low pressure for your area.
Why do I have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?
We may have received it after the due date or we may not have received it at all. Call our office and we will help you solve the problem.
Why is my water discolored?
A repair could have been completed recently allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look.
