The responsibility of the City of Collins Mayor is to serve all citizens and business owners fairly and openly. A committment to applying these principles in the most professional and timely manner possible is key in guiding our community through continued growth and success.
Let's introduce our mayor:
I'm a graduate from Bondurant-Farrar HS (1990). I'm a graduate of both ISU and UNI, receiving BA's in History and Liberal Studies. I'm also a graduate from Graceland University (MA in Collaboration) and from Viterbo University (Education Administration). I've been teaching for over 17 years in both special and general education settings. Currently, I am employed at Miller Middle School in Marshalltown as an 8th grade social studies teacher. In addition to teaching, I am a veteran. I spent nearly 14 years between the United States Marine Corps and the Iowa National Guard. For the last 15 years I have lived in Collins and I am married to my wife Jenny (a life long Collins resident). We have four children, as well as our dog Jack... and Lavon the cat.
As mayor, I have been fortunate enough to serve with a lot of great people. Together, this community has put together an impressive set of accomplishments in the last 7 years that include a new fire station, modernized sewage lagoons, water line and meter upgrades, economic development, park improvements, library expansion, building rehabilitation, construction of an amphitheater, equipment upgrades, development 24 hour fitness center, and much more. This is a wonderful town with a lot to offer. The best thing about Collins, though, is that we are constantly finding ways to improve ourselves, grow, and to make the most of what a small town can offer.
