Mayor

The responsibility of the City of Collins Mayor is to serve all citizens and business owners fairly and openly. 

A committment to applying these principles in the most professional and timely manner possible is key in guiding our community through continued growth and success.

A mayor's responsibilities include:

1. Leadning the local government,

2. Managing the city budget,

3. Overseeing essential services (police,fire, public works),

4. Appointing department heads,

5. Representing the community to other government levels and the public, 

6.  Acting as both chief executive and ceremonial figurehead to ensure city laws are enforced and quality of life is improved for residents.

These powers may vary by city structure, from direct daily oversight to working with a city manager, but always involve policy-making, budget management, and public representation.
