Sanitation & Recycling

The City of Collins contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection and recycling. Everyone within the city limits is required to have garbage collection every Wednesday.

*Effective November 1st, 2019 we are going to implement Curb Side Recycling. There will be a 96 gallon cart that will be picked up by Waste Management every other week.  Please refer to the calendar on the CALENDAR OF EVENTS section under the COMMUNITY TAB to see when pickup dates are scheduled.

If you are in the habit of recycling  - non recyclable items - the driver will note this and inform you that this needs to be corrected on future pickups.  If the abuse continues, you will be removed from the pickup route and will have to find other means of disposing of your recycle items.

If assistance is needed or you have items too large to be bagged please call City Hall and advise the city clerk there will be an additonal pick-up fee assessed and added to your next water bill.

However, disposing of medical supplies and equipment as well as expired or unused medications requires caution, and many are unsure how to do so. In an effort to help, NCOA Adviser created this guide, How to Manage Unused Medical Supplies, that addresses how to handle these meds and supplies without letting them go to waste, including:

• Participating in drug take back programs in-person or over the mail
• Donating or returning major equipment like wheelchairs and mobility aids
• Organizations that take donations of supplies like gloves and masks
